Game Day Chili
This chili recipe is just right: beans but not too many; spicy but not too hot. The cocoa powder adds a subtle dimension to this family-pleasing meal.
  • Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • (2 lbs.) 100% Grass Fed and Finished Ground Beef
  • (2 C) Chopped onion (about 2 medium onions)
  • (4 cloves) Garlic, crushed
  • (2 TBSP) Chili powder
  • (2 tsp) Salt
  • (2 tsp) Ground cumin
  • (2 tsp) Dried oregano leaves
  • (2 tsp) Cocoa powder
  • (1 tsp) Tabasco sauce
  • (1 x 28 oz. can) Whole tomatoes with juice
  • (2 x 15.5 oz. cans) Red kidney beans, un-drained

Directions

Cook the beef, onion and garlic in a large pot until beef is browned and onions are soft and translucent. Stir, breaking up the beef as you do so, leaving no large clumps.

Add all of the remaining ingredients through the Tabasco sauce. Next add the tomatoes with their juices, breaking up the tomatoes with your fingers as you add them to the pot. Stir to combine.

Heat to boiling, cover the pot, and simmer for one hour, stirring occasionally.

After the one hour, remove the lid and add the beans with their juices. Stir to combine and cook uncovered for an additional 20 minutes.

Serve with your favorite toppings. We love sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, and sliced green onions. Great with a side of tortilla chips or freshly baked corn bread.
