Don't be intimidated by the long ingredient list. Most of the ingredients are spices that make up the intensely flavorful rub. Simply mix up the rub, slather it on the shoulder roast, pop the roast in your slow cooker, and return in 8 hours for a meal that will tantalize your taste buds!
- Servings: 6
Ingredients
- (1 (3-4 lb)) Shoulder Roast
- (2 TBSP) Cocoa powder
- (2 tsp.) Salt
- (4 tsp.) Smoked paprika
- (3 tsp.) Sweet paprika
- (2 tsp.) Ground cumin
- (1 tsp.) Ground coriander
- (1/2 tsp.) Ground cloves
- (1 tsp.) Garlic powder
- (1/4 tsp.) Black pepper
- (2 TBSP) Apple cider vinegar
Directions
Mix all of the spices together in a small bowl. Add the vinegar and stir to form a thick paste.
Rub the seasoning paste all over the pork shoulder, coating all sides.
Place the seasoned pork shoulder in your slow cooker and cook on low for 8-9 hours until it is falling apart.
Remove the pork shoulder from the slow cooker and place in a large bowl. Allow it to cool slightly, then pull it into shreds with two forks.
